Illegal parking control

Definition

An “Illegal stop/ parking” violation occurs if a car stays immobile in a “No stop/ parking area” for longer than a permissible limit.

Steps to set up illegal stop/ parking control

  1. Build a road object, which might not be a crossroads for this violation type but a linear road segment or a square or any other (e.g., its name is "Times Square”).
  2. Bind cameras to it.
  3. Name the violation.
  4. Build the “No stop/parking” area in CarTrack Pro settings on the camera meant to monitor that area.
  5. Link the violation name (step 3) to the “No stop/ parking” area (step 4).
  6. Turn on illegal stop/ parking control.
  7. Review the results.

Bind cameras to road object

Detection of an illegal stop/ parking requires cameras that monitor the no stop/ parking area. It must have CarTrack Pro enabled.

  1. On the Road objects page in the settings, click as shown ...
  2. Road Objects list in Settings with an arrow pointing to a road object name to open its detail screen

... to open the road object screen.

Road object screen with the camera filter set to All and the Bind to road object command shown on a camera in the list

  3. Set the camera filter to All to run Bind to road object on the camera intended to monitor the no stop/ parking area. A window with the same name will open.
  4. Bind camera to road object window with the camera label set, a color chosen, and Illegal stops / parkings checked under Camera Type

  5. Check the Illegal stops/ parkings under Camera type
  6. Enter the camera label, which will appear wherever it is relevant to this kind of violation.
  7. Choose a self-explanatory label, for example, “Parking control at Times Square”.

  8. Select a color for the camera icon on the road object diagram.
  9. Click Bind.
  10. Drag and drop the camera icon on the road object diagram to place it where it is physically located.
  11. Redraw the camera’s field of view on the diagram to represent it realistically.
  12. Optionally, bind an overview camera in the same way, which, however, can be combined as one.

Name the violation

On the Violation name page in the settings, click the “+” to open a window and:

  1. Set Violation type to “Illegal stops/ parking”.
  2. Set an event priority value.
  3. Type a clear, descriptive name for the planned violation in this area, e.g., “Forbidden parking at Times Square”.

Create new Violation name window with the name set to Forbidden parting at Times square and violation type set to Illegal stops / parkings

Build the “No stop/parking” area

In the CarTrack Pro settings on the camera meant to monitor the “No stop/ parking” area, build this area. Give it a clear, self-explanatory name, e.g., “No parking zone at Times Square”.

Link the violation name to the no parking area

Now let a violation of the “Illegal stop/ parking” type in the “No stop/ parking” area get its name. To do so:

  1. On the road object page, click Violation rules in the three-dot menu — the screen will show:
  2. Violation rules screen for the Times square road object, with the road object name, bound camera, traffic objects, and violation names numbered 1 through 8

1 — the road object name given at step 2 in “Road objects”
2 — bound camera label assigned at step 4 in “Bind cameras to read object”.
3 — camera type assigned at step 3 in “Bind cameras to read object”.
4 — the list of traffic objects (their names and types) created on the camera needed to build a rule (the “No parking at Times square” in this case).

6 — traffic object type defined at step 2 in “Illegal parking”.
7 — planned traffic violation name to be given at step 2 in this section below.
    8 — traffic violation type.

  3. Click the “+” in the bottom-right corner to select the “Illegal stop/ parking” violation name (e.g., it is “Forbidden parking at Times Square”) under Illegal stop/ parking.
  4. Violation name dropdown under Illegal stops / parkings with Forbidden parking at Times square highlighted

  5. Specify the overview camera under Forbidden parking at Times square.
  6. Forbidden parking at Times square violation rule expanded with the Overview camera field set to Not specified

  7. Click Save

Turn on illegal stop/parking control
