Registration status check
The IREX Platform includes a feature that automatically verifies whether each detected license plate corresponds to a vehicle with a valid California DMV registration (i.e., the annual vehicle registration fee has been paid).
In other states,
legal driving requirements may differ—for example, vehicles may require annually renewable environmental certificates,
technical inspections, or similar approvals. The IREX Platform can support such checks as well,
provided that DMV registration or other authorized datasets are available for import.
When this feature is enabled, geofenced zones—road segments, intersections, or parking lots—can be defined to run continuous, privacy‑respectful checks. When a vehicle’s registration is expired or missing, the system raises a "Registration expired" event that appears alongside other traffic violations. Optional alerts and workflow automations enable rapid response by parking‑enforcement or law‑enforcement teams.
Workflow to check vehicle registration status
- Build a road object.
- Bind cameras to it.
- Name the violation.
- Build the check area.
- Link the violation name to the check area.
- Turn on registration status control.
- Review the results.
Bind cameras to road object
DMW registration status check (or other kind of check) requires a camera to monitor the check area. It must have CarTrack Pro enabled.

- Set the camera filter to All to run Bind to road object on the camera intended to check DMW registration status (or other renewable approval). A window with the same name will open.
- Check e.g.Technical allowance under Camera type.
- Enter the camera label, which will appear wherever it is relevant to the registration status or other check.
- Select a color for the camera icon on the crossroads diagram.
- Click Bind.
- Drag and drop the camera icon on the road object diagram to place it where it is physically located.
- Redraw the camera’s field of view on the diagram to represent it realistically.
... to open the road object (crossroads) screen.
This name might be different; For instance,
it would be "DMV registration status" in California, or "Environmental certificate" somewhere else, etc.
Choose a self-explanatory label based on the camera’s function. See step 3.
Name the violation
On the Violation name page in the settings, click the “+” to open a window, then:
- Set Violation type to e.g., "Driving without technical allowance”.
- Set an event priority value.
- Type a clear, descriptive name for the planned violation at this particular road object.
The violation
type name might be different;
for instance, it might be "DMV registration expired" in California, or "No ecological certificate" somewhere else, and so on.
The name will appear on the rule name list when it comes to linking the name to the check area.
Build the check area
On the camera intended to check DMV registration or other approvals set up CarTrack Pro as described here.

- On the left-hand side bar on the screen that opens ...
- Click "+" to select the violation name under Driving without technical allowance.
- Click Save.

and so on.
Turn on the registration status check
Run Turn on control in the three-dot
menu to check Driving without technical allowance in the window that opens, and
then click Turn on.
